Know Your Role : a guide to being a good player in a group environment
Let me start this guide by introducing myself my name is Bobreaze. I have played wow since pre-bc and have played many different classes since i began playing. I Have played wow in many roles through its various changes. This has given me a good understanding of what is expected of each a player in the various roles that they will encounter in a group setting. With the recent change to the LFG system in patch 3.3 it seems that more people are doing instances without the knowledge of what is expected from them in their role of choice. That's is why i have written this guide to share my knowledge of what is expected of a player when performing a particular role in a group.
What this guide is not:
This guide is not meant to teach you the mechanics of other classes. It is not meant to be a guide about class mechanics, skills, or gear although a few may be mentioned. If your interested in learning how to play your class better or learn how to perform a certain role for your class I suggest you look in your class forums for further information. Most of the information on your class or others can be gained from reading the stickies at the top of each class forum. These will contain questions about whats a good spec, what rotations are good, and the pros and cons of different stat points.
The Roles:
There are 3 roles in wow they are tank, healer, and dps. To successfully group in a dungeon or raid you will need a combination of these roles. With the new LFG tool in 3.3 you can choose which role you wish to perform. This guide will help you to know what the roles are and what is expected of the players that are in each role.
Tank Role:
The tank in a group is the shield his role is to create threat so that the mobs and bosses target him. The tank of a group normally is the most heavily armoured and able to handle taking damage better than the other classes in a group. The reason a tank is important is because they are able to take more damage and prevent mobs from killing other players.
- Tanks should create max threat to keep monsters attacking them.
- Tanks should taunt monsters off of healer and dps to keep them alive.
- Tanks should use cool downs to mitigate damage.
- Tanks should position monsters to prevent damage to group or self.
- Tanks should stay out of the fire or aoe dmg spots.
These are the general goals of a tank. Most tanks in groups are also the leader. They set the pace for when mobs are pulled and should be the first person to damage a group of mobs or boss. Tanks do have one goal that is above all else the most important one. Tanks should do their best to keep the healer alive that means don't allow stray mobs to pound your healer to death. Since tanks are the first person to damage mobs they also need to be aware if the group is ready for a pull. They also should be considerate of the healers mana because if the healer has no mana the tank is gonna die.
Expectations of a tank
- Tanks are expected to generate enough threat to hold mobs.
- Tanks are expected to wear the proper gear.
- Tanks are expected to be in the proper presence, stance, form or have righteous fury on.
Healer Role:
Healers are the lifeblood of a group. A group can not succesfully do a dungeon without a healer. Healers keep the group alive through various healing spells. Healers also are important for removing different status ailments that can affect an party.
Healer Goals:
Healers have one goal and thats to keep everyone alive. Healers also have a priority system for who is healed. The system looks like this Tank=Healer>DPS. Which means healers goal are to keep themselves and the tank of the group alive at all cost. Which means dps are second priority healing. The reason for this is because a group can survive if a dps dies but if a healer or tank dies the whole group dies.
more to be added at a later time critiques if u dont mind.
Plodding along
The good side of the LFG is that t is a game changer for wow. More people are doing instances and it means more experienced group players and a happier player base. I have genuinely loved the new tool its allowed me to level my druid 2 levels in just a few days. It saves me time allowing me a way to do a instance in 30 minutes as opposed to the 45 minutes of looking for a tank to do a 30 minute dungeon. There are allot of good things to be said about the tool and i hope that more mmos look at it as something worth incorporating into their games.
The bad side of the LFG is that while random dungeons are fun it seems that at my level i do the same 2 dungeons fairly often. The other problem is while being a healer or tank groups are quick generally less than 10 minutes most of the time instant. If your a DPS your wait times can range from 10-30 minutes just to get a group. Which is still relatively short however i wish there was a way for this to drop down to sub 10 minutes just like healers and tanks enjoy. The loot system also needs to be adjusted just slightly. Mandating need before greed is great to keep some people happy. However I believe limiting classes from rolling on certain gear is dumb. A leveling druid healer should be able to roll on cloth so should anyone who its an upgrade for. In my experience before the need before greed system most people only needed on items that were upgrades whether cloth or leather for a druid or a shaman using leather or cloth because the random loot hates him.
The loot system and Que times are bad but now for the ugly. The people it seems whenever i heal my groups are great everyone knows their role and performs well. There have been a few times were mistakes are made new tanks learning new instances but generally as a healer its a laid back affair and we successfully clear dungeons with little to no deaths. It seems though anytime i tank i get the most mismatched groups dps that cant FF, healers that don't understand their class mechanics. Which is annoying it frustrates me that while I'm not the best tank it seems like everyone in the group is working against me. Which to some extent they are that's what its like to be a tank your hammering mobs trying to hold aggro with 3 dps that decide not to ff and to each try to kill one mob that no one else is focusing on. Which means I take more dmg and the healer has to work harder. So the ugly for the LFG tool is that you cant dictate who you group with or their skill level. It also seems that since tanks get instant groups most of them are full of scrubs that have been waiting for 20 minutes just to piss you off.
I'm debating on making a basic guides to dps, tank and healer roles in an instance. Would this be something worth spending my time and if so what are some key points you would like me to share. The guide would be posted here and in all respective wow forums.

update time
Friday, December 11
I know i slacked off sorry.
So now to update you on 3.3 My markets have risen well except for netherweave bags. Epic Gems are back to 200g each. I stocked up on saronite bars to try and make profit from the transmute to titanium restriction being lifted. I created 44 bars which is about 17 stacks of saronite i paid 30g each for these saronite. or a 400g investment my bars are projected to sell around 20g each which would equal 1k gold or 600g profit. Currently saronite market is aroudn 40g a stack which means that there is more profit in transmuting about 20g profit per 2 stacks more if your transmute procs. I plan to watch the market closely i may be able to get more saronite at a lower price this could be a good patch for alchemist.

Update on idea
The plan invest 500g in northrend herbs that ill have someone ink for me. Sell the snowfall ink to offset the cost of herbs. Trade ink of the sea for midnight ink and craft as many vellums as possible. Sell the vellums for a minimum of 4g profit preferably higher. Hopefully the combination of selling snowfall ink and weapon vellums will net me a profit of 500g. Ill better be able to project a estimate of profit once i have all the ink of the sea and snowfall ink crafted. While this is a fairly interesting idea this is just a trial run to see if the profit is worth further investment. I hope to keep my readers updated on how many herbs i buy, how much ink they produce, The amount that i get from selling snowfall ink so that i can offset the cost allowing me to make more profit from each vellum. I intend to tell you how many vellums i make and my strategy for selling them. Which will include how i intend to price them and stack sizes.
Inscription idea
I was siting here thinking on how to make money from inscription without having to level my 61 DK and it hit me. Weapon Vellums I on my server there is almost no supply for these however the demand for them is fairly good. I believe these could be a potential gold mine because players making lower level weapon scrolls for twinks need them. Crusader Fiery agility life stealing all of these pre-bc enchants can be placed on a weapon vellum I and some enchanters focus exclusively on selling just these scrolls.
Why this could be a great gold mine. If i remember correctly weapon vellum I requires 2 midnight ink which i believe can be obtained from peace bloom the cheapest herb to get. So I'm just going to use hypothetical numbers here tomorrow ill post real calculations.
peacebloom x 20 = 2g max = about 6 inks if I'm lucky.
6 inks turns into 6 vellums. sell them for 1g each which means 6g- 2g cost =4g profit this is small but it can add up. Also this is hypothetical the vellums could sell for more max i would say probably 4g per vellum.bringing the total profit for a stack of peacebloom to 22g. While i wish these numbers were 100% correct they aren't ill create a post about my current market and the results from the experiment tomorrow or the next day depending on how quickly the vellums sell. Check your markets this could be a decent gold maker to supplement your income with a minimal investment.

Current market
Since i left it seems like the bag market has settled i only noticed 1 big player selling. This is good because it allows me to sell my bags at greater profit. II have been purchasing all the netherweave up to 10g so that my competition can not get the cheap mats hoping to keep prices high and stop a undercutting war. I may run into a problem with low supply of netherweave though and get kicked out of the market due to having no back stock.
I am going to level my DK to 65 so i can level inscription up to 450. I don't intend to be a big player in the glyph market however I am interested in weapon and armour vellum's III . They seem to sell well and could be a great income. Also the fort scroll that does a priest buff may offer another market to use.
While doing all of this i have been keeping up a bid low sell normal routine. it offers steady income however not as good as it used to be. I need to add more items to my snatch list Large brilliant shards righteous orbs and small radiant shards. IF i can keep a constant supply of these ill be able to keep in the scroll market and improve my income.
Is there any frostweave cloth items that can be crafted and De for profit? if so please leave a comment this could be a great market to get into. Also i need to look at frostweave bags if the cost is low enough profits on those bags could be impressive.

Markco Vs. Gevlon Blog wars
I see nothing wrong with markco trying to offer another blogger a way to get some cash. I also see nothing wrong with gevlon rejecting the offer. My problem lays with the two creating a flame war in their respective communities. Love or hate it they both have succesful blogs that tackle similar questions. They both have great post and crappy post. I just hope they both drop it so their followers will cut the crap and we can return to a happy blogging community with the goal of making gold
If you have no idea what im refering too go to greedygoblin.blogspot.com and look up last tuesdays post. Also check out JMTC.com To see a response by markco

moving prices up.
I plan to purchase netherweave for the next few days with 10g being the max that i'll pay for a stack. Keeping the supply of cloth low will allow me to end the rampant undercutting. This happens because the other bag makers will not have access to more cloth to continue undercutting eventually their stock will run low and prices will rise. I estimate that if i can keep netherweave cloth supplies low that in 5-7 days bags will raise to around 15g-16g. At this point i will slowly introduce bags int othe market. while doing this ill continue to keep netherweave cloth supply low . Hopefully this will drive out some of the smaller competition and allow me to sell my bags for 4-8g profit.

Inscription markets
The methods That someone like me who doesnt have time to mass produce glyphs are not as limited as you might think. Selling vellums can be a great gold maker currently there is a large demand and small supply on my server. So I could use this to my advantage posting slowly to maximize profit. There are 2 types of vellums with three levels this is a much smaller market to watch and post on than the glyph market. Darkmoon cards these offer the chance for big payoffs nobles decks seem to average 4k gold or more these could be worth making. Also like vellums there is a smaller market so less competition and babysitting. Offhand items I wouldn't say these are great money makers but if you have the extra ink this could be a place to sink it for some nice returns. Which leads me to the newest market for inscriptionsist Scrolls of Fortitude the thing that provides priest buffs for groups. I have not researched what these take or how active the market is but this is a item that could be a big seller.
I plan to level my DK up to 65 and start taking advantage of the lesser known inscription markets. Hopefully they will net me a nice supplementary income with a smaller investment. I don't believe i will be a big AH player making 1k gold a day but if i can increase my diversity it will help increase my gold per day.

Snatching it up, Alchemy prediction
The reason i predict this is most alchemist just make pots and transmute epics. This is their bread and butter i'm hoping that they ignore the change and im able to transmute the saronite into titanium bars and have market prices remain steady. Currently a stack of 20 saronite bars averages between 30-35g and titanium bars sells for around 35g each. If the market price stays the same i can be making 70g just transmuting with 4 bars left over from each stack of saronite. Which means 2 stacks of sronite that cost me 60g have the potential to make 175g - cost of mats wich leaves 115g profit.
Disclaimer this is my own prediction and may or may not come true. If you follow this method it is not guranteed to result in profit and could cause a loss of gold. Please don't criticize me if you attempt it and loose money that is your risk to take and decide if it is worth it.

Cant teach the unwilling
This aggeravated me because I really wanted to equip this player to be able to make his own gold and stop asking for it. After a bit of thought i told him about the deviate hatchlings. He took the advice and attempted to get one with no luck. So while I have equiped this player kinda to be able to get his own gold it seems like he is unwilling. Have you ever run into this problem if so how did you deal with it.

Don't Let Congress Censor Legalization Discussion
Posted by LEAP
The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee could vote as soon as this Thursday, November 5 on an amendment that will legally prevent some of the government's top advisers from even discussing the idea of legalizing or decriminalizing drugs as a solution to the failed "war on drugs."Yes, you read that right. The Senate just might censor its own policy advisers from giving science-based advice. The censorship amendment's author, Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), is trying to attach the speech prohibition onto an otherwise positive bill that will create a blue ribbon commission to study our nation's failed criminal justice and drug policies. The commission is supposed to make recommendations for ways to improve the system, but how can they do that with the blindfold that Sen. Grassley's wants to put on them? Please take action at http://www.CopsSayLegalizeDrugs.com/censorship and tell your senators to oppose the censorship amendment! The text of the Grassley censorship amendment can be viewed as a PDF here.

Vanity pets.
Now i just need to do some research to see what drops these and how rare are they it could be a great cash maker which is surprising. I regard vanity pets and achievements as a waste of time. They offer nothing to me as far as game play goes so I have no regret about selling this little pet. Actually it make me interested in looking into other pets that i can exploit and sell. I guess to me this is just another way to take advantage of less savvy players or players that have other interest and too much gold. I guess it leaves everyone happy they get their vanity pet for 250g cheaper and i get a rich lvl 18 that doesn't have to leech off of my cash.

Learning the value of items.
To help out with your learning im going to list items i like to buy and items i stay away from.
Items that i like buying.
- Ore and Bars(copper, tin, iron, mithril, true silver, silver, thorium) these are the best gold making ores if you can get them cheap. However the higher levels are good to.
- Cloth( i try to stick to netherweave, runecloth, mageweave, and frostweave) the investment in wool is to big for a possible loss. Linen cloth doesn't offer great returns.
- Herbs every level of herb is free game they all have great returns.
- meat (clam, boar, turtle, rhino, worg) these all sell great clam meat is worth its weight in gold.
- gems if i see blue gems that are half of the 30g they can move at ill purchase them all. The lower level green gems can also make good profit.
- enchanting mats ( small radiant shards, large brilliant shards, and righteous orbs) these make great sellers as crusader and fiery enchants.
- leather it all sells well. But be ware the hides are not that great.
- Crystallized elements as well as eternal elements
Things that may not be good buys
- Gear (green, blue, Epic) I stay away from gear it can be a good investment but i think the risk is to high. The only gear i do buy are twink items and occasionaly epic items above 213 Item level.
- Watch for out rageous prices netherweave banadages wont sell for 2k gold so dont waste 100g on something that is obviously a waste.
- Bandages i dont find these to be a great investment.
- glyphs sure you could possibly picup 100s of glyphs for 1g but the chances of selling them i dont think are that great.

Using the snatch feature
- open auctioneer perform the fast scan by pressing the >> button.
- after the scan completes go to the search field and select snatch. It should be below resale.
- in this screen drag or drop the item you want to bulk buy. In my case netherweave.
- Next you need to set the price per item you want to pay. I set mine to 50s per piece of netherweave. This means the most expensive cost of my mats is 10g per stack.
- after getting this set you click the add button then click search to let the snatch populate and show you all the items in the range of what you want to pay.
- after the list is populated its time for keyboard twister press ctrl alt and shift this turns the purchase button into a purchase all button. Click it and the addon should que up all the items for purchase.
- you can see the total cost of items in the lower left hand corner next to the stop button. If you don't wish to spend the total you can buy what you want then use the stop button to clear the buy que.
- click yes on the pop up that appears to purchase items do this until all items are purchased or until you reach the limit of what you wish to spend.
- Go clean out the mailbox and get to crafting snatch just made it easy to buy over 100 stacks of cloth in 15 minutes.
Another quick point if your only snatching one item it is quicker to just search that item instead of a full scan go through the pages of the item. Then use snatch the auctioneer DB updated the view on netherweave when you viewed all the pages allowing you to snatch in 5 minutes. Instead of having to wait for a scan to finish.

A wonderful insight in how to profit from inscription.
Link http://one-copper.com/2009/10/22/inscription-just-mill/comment-page-1/#comment-375
here is the best comment by Amin which i guess is Seth.
" I am still finishing up Northrend research so I am still using my ink. I do however “just mill it all”. I will periodically put up extra Ink or Sea and Snowfall just to see if it will sell. Sometimes, a few do but not many at least on my server.
What I have been doing instead is buying goldclover for 16g stack, milling it into pigments and getting avg 20 Azure and 1 Icy per stack. I turn the Azure into IotS and sell the Icy. I take the IotS and make 5 armor vellum III.
Now for the math.Stack of GC = 16g20 Resilient parchment(46s/each) to make the vellums = 9g 20sTotal spent = 25g 20s
Armor Vellum III made = 10 @ 6g 75s (after AH fees)Icy Pigment sold = 10g – 12gTotal gold made = 78g 5s
Total profit from one stack of GoldClover = 53g 85s
I bought 6 stacks of GC the other day and did this, profit after 24 hour AH sales – 317g 10s"
Go check it out it is a great post.
Diary Entry: An experience in raising the price.
After doing this for a few days the market for bags fell in half because other bag makers couldnt get affordable netherweave. I droped bags down to only 20 AHs per day between just my competiton or one page. The price rose to 16g but it was an artificial high created by me buying the netherweave. When i began bagging i would post 30 every 4-8 hours under cutting by 10-50 silver each time. I did this for several days driving bags down to 9g being the lowest i sold for but that was only about 80 out of like 300 bags. A majority sold for 11-13g each. Probably around 1300g expense but i made 2860g out of the deal so 1500g profit.
Another way i managed to turn such a high profit was by keeping my auction times 12 hours . Which meant i got expired auction in a rotation if i posted 30 bags every 4 hours the next day i would have a few bags return in 4 hour intervals giving me more inventory to repost. This gradualy got smaller as the inventory sold i had less expired auctions. but this allowed me to have higher post rates keeping my auctions underneath my competition in cost and letting me make more sells. I would suggest any savy banker try messing with posting times to see if they get better results and higher returns with their gold.
Try it out to see if it works for you

10k gold
- Bid Low Sell Normal Daily - netted decent profit from other peoples mistakes.
- Crafting Netherweave bags- purchased netherweave and crafted bags for 2-5g profit per bag.
- Transmuting Magestic zicron and having it cut into +30 stam gems. Daily transmuting nets 200g easy sometimes more.
- Selling enchants Crusader and Fiery these mats can be bought for a 1/3rd of what the scroll sells for.
- selling enchanting mats gained from Leveling BS and other random greens. This gained me a fair amount of gold more than selling the items on the AH would have.
- Sold a few flask only had to buy the lotus.
Diary Entry: 40th post its a good day.
So with that short term goal i need to decide what my next goal should be. Gold wise i believe the next stepping stone should be 25k. However I am not going to focus or work as hard as i did for 10k. I will work 30 minutes a day on it maybe more if its a crafting afk session. The other goal is to level my shaman and his JC/mining up so i can take advantage of D/E materials and cutting gems. Currently he is level 11 so i have a ways to go before reaching the cap. Another goal that i may or may not set after making some gold is to finish my BS up by buying materials. This could potentially offer me a more lucrative market to use to make gold than the bag market.
Ill have an update post in a few hours showing a picture with the gold and with a summary of how i made it all.

Leveling and making gold
I gave my character 20g to use for training and a mount however, when i give gold totals for my character i plan to only tell you how much I made over 20g. I plan to level JC/Mining while leveling my shaman this is what i plan to use as my source of income. I won't be using my other characters professions to synergies or if i do I must Tip the character for DEs and such. I would like to know what people expect as an average tip for a service such as D/E if you could leave that in comments that's what ill choose. My plan is to not use bid/low sell normal on this character to create income. Instead i want to use commonly found items (ex. Meat, Cloth, Greens, quest items) and sell them on the AH as a way to make money alongside selling my JC items or dust gained from D/E my craft items. I think this will provide a good view in how to make money while leveling for new players and old.
Also Look for a Diary report in a few days no big news had a slow weekend.

gold making theory.
As a AH player I use most of my gold to make gold. Which also allows me to cover the cost of wipes, enchants, gems, and gear the things a general wow player worries about. It also allows me to purchase luxuries and not have to struggle for gold. This is the benefit of making your gold work for you. you still have to work some to make gold, but not nearly as hard or as long as a player that grinds dailies and farms. Like in an earlier post a farmer that maxes out making only 300g an hour will never match a player that crafts items and can make 300g in 15 minutes. The only difference is the person making 300g in 15 minutes had to spend gold to make it. However he will make profit either way. Depending on the professions the profit should be good. So don't work to hard for your gold make it work for you.

Undercutting Its the name of the game.
One way to reduce the damage is to not place your entire stock of items on the AH at one time. Separating it out and posting 30 here and there will make sure that 2 hours later you can post more of the items up. But this time you will be the undercutters dropping the price to a level you deem acceptable as long as its below the competition. However you may still be undercut even after undercutting. This is how markets deflate when players keep undercutting each other lower and lower. Example of this last Friday Netherweave bags were selling for around 13g today they sold for 7g30s. This happened for 2 reasons an abundance of netherweave cloth and me dumping my stock of netherweave with no care how low the price got because it was profit anyways.
One way to curb the damages from not selling because you are undercut is to post auctions for shorter intervals. Instead of posting for 48 hours with a higher deposit. Try posting for 12 hours with a lower deposit to the AH. That away if you do run out of supplies or items you get them returned sooner if your undercut so that you can re post them at the new market price.
Undercutting is a common practice used by players to sell items fast. You can use this to your advantage. In the bid low sell normal process I say look for items that are commonly used see if it says buy or bid. Most of the time when Auctioneer says buy it may be because of undercutting. Some scrub players of wow want to sell quick so they will post items that would sell for about 6g for 3g. This is where you can make some serious profit purchasing these kind of items and reselling them for the normal cost.
So now that your informed that undercutting is a fact of life. Use the tips i provided to not prevent it but mitigate the damage. Also make use of the free gold scrubs dump into the AH all day long. Sell it and make your gold and lol at how easy it was. Use undercutting to make sure your items sell but don't be silly with your undercuts a few silver is all it takes.

Need quick cash
- Go kill low level food providers. Monsters such as boars, murclocs, crawlers drop low level foods such as clam meat, boar meat crawler meat, and the occasional pearls.
- Farm low level instances for cloth, greens, and give runthroughs so you have more bag space. Find lowbies that need scarlet monastary or ZF run them through for free with the clause they pick up all the loot. Any greens they dont need for an upgrade is yours also all the cloth. You can either give them the blue boss drops or take them for resale. AH most of the loot you get and you should make good profit with only killing while the lowbie loots.
- If your an enchanter running strat and scholomance killing all the bosses in both sides of strat and scholomance will get you alot of enchanting mats. If you have crusader make the scrolls and sell crusader enchants. Disenchant the loot for mats sell off the dream dust and illusion dust. The greater essence is good to sell also. Keep LBS and Righteous orbs for crusader. Also rune cloth can nab you a good bit of gold or you can craft items if your a tailor to DE and sell.

Diary Entry: Goals
The reason I chose 10k was I hear its the hardest goal to attain. This is because most people have buy to have what i call the most needed 3. Which are Duo spec, Cold weather flying, and epic flight. While I do agree these are great to have they are not needed well except Cold Weather Flying. However, Most of my toons have Duo spec and only one is missing cold weather flying. As for the epic flight I have only one toon that needs this. I plan on using his goal of getting Flight form at a later date with only that characters professions as a series of diary entries. To get my entries started I'm going to have a post with my inventory and current gold amount. This will allow me to document the ups and downs of how my task is going better.
Changes
Currently I'm trying multiple markets and making a decent amount of gold. What i may have better success at is focusing on one main market and bidding low selling normal. Does this mean ill drop all the other markets I'm working on no. I'm not going to stop my 20 second transmute daily and selling the gem that's 200g a day for 20 seconds. Nor am i going to stop bid low sell normal because it generates good steady income. What I do plan on doing is examining my AHs current market and finding a niche where i can generate the most profit. Then i will leave what ill call diary entries here on the blog about how this is going.
Also I changed the layout of the blog and plan to test this for a few weeks. Please leave comments on it so i can better serve you the information i have. Also I need some advice on what i should look for in my market to know if its a good idea. Currently i have 430 enchanter/tailor 450 alchemist/herb 350 BS w/ 365 mining, and 342 inscriptionist. Any tips or advice on what works for the professions to make good gold is great. Currently i have a pretty big stock of netherweave bolts so i may see what kind of fun i can do in this market. So look for a new diary entry tomorrow.

Time is Money
Example:
A farmer can make 300g/hour if they know what they are doing and don't get bored. I can craft 30 bags in 15 minutes which makes 300g if i sell them cheap on my server. Will i make that 300g instantly no but neither will the farmer he has to either cod or AH his supplies just like me. The difference is while he can max out at 300g an hour and I'm making 300g (theoretical) in 15 minutes then I have a potential to make 3 times the gold as the farmer in an hour. So while yes farming is free gold the farmer just supplies the crafter making 1k gold - the cost of mats. Some people like farming its not a bad way to make gold just don't assume its the fastest.

About yesterday
I spent 1k gold to level my BS I found a way to make some of the money back. I disenchanted the items i was crafting and sold the mats. After disenchanting and selling the items i made around 600g. Which means that i realy only spent 400g to level my BS to 350. Now im slowly leveling my warrior and leveling both his mining and BS at the same time. Hopefully when i reach eternal belt buckles ill be able to enter that market. Im also going to continue DE the items i make so that i can sell them for profit.

Auctioneer bid low sell normal step by step guide
Friday, October 2
Stalled.
I then am going to try and keep doing bid low sell normal and level my black smithing. I hope to catch it up to 375 by next weekend. Once i get it caught up I'm going to buy the mats to level to 450 since northrend bars are fairly cheap. After that i hope to possibly try the belt buckle market out. I also may look into whether I can find a good tailoring item to craft and d/e for profit.
I've learned a good bit from my netherwave experience. While i didn't accomplish my goal of getting competition out of it i did learn a method to push prices higher and have a stock of mats backed up. I also learned that while the money can be good sometimes the time investment isn't. I was spending more game time focusing on trying to control that market I'm sure i lost money in other markets. I plan to still partake in the bag market but I'm going to let the prices reset on netherweave cloth so i can get a better profit margins. Or at the very least stop paying 11g for stacks of cloth and only selling the bags for 13g 86s .

MUHAHAHA
Also on another note AH-Whoring took the time to write up a nifty spread sheet. Its on crafting personally its a little over my head but if the're any big time craft\de people that read blog this take a look. http://www.ah-whoring.com/2009/09/30/crafting-spreadsheet-overview/ maybe you can make heads or tails of it.
I think ill do a post about the sites i read daily tomorrow. It doesn't take long to read them and they have valuable information i probably don't have.
My proffessions and an update on the guide
450 tailoring/enchanter
450 herb/alchemist
342 inscription
375 mining 225 blacksmith
After i finish leveling my BS ill have 3 chars with max professions that i can use to make even more gold. My inscription is on hold mainly because i don't like playing the DK and don't feel a need to jump in that market because of time constraints. That leaves only leather working, skinning, JC and engineering that i don't have. However i do have a JC that does anything i need done because hes family.
Well the guide is coming along i have it mostly done however recently i have had bad Internet problems. Mainly my neighbor turns off their router which kills the free Internet i need to play. So whenever i get a good Internet connection i plan to post the guide
Blacksmith leveling
I plan to farm the old school thorium ore myself instead of spending 75g a stack. After farming the ore and crafting various items i will send them to my DE char to be made into enchanting mats. Then ill sell the mats for profit or look at creating rare enchants to sell as scrolls. I hope to keep a tally of how well the mats sell and how much gold i make leveling my BS up to 450.

Alchemy markets how to succeed
The first market any Alchemist should explore once he/she reaches 450 is the epic gem transmutes. The mats can cost as little as 5g if your lucky. The Raw uncut gems sell for 150g which is a good profit margin. This can be done every 20 hours and should be done asap once you log on. You can make even more money if your guild has a JC or you have a friend that can cut your gems. Currently the blue gem cut into +30 stamina sells for 230g on my server that's 80g more than the raw gem is worth.
Flask is the other great market for alchemist. You create 2 flask every time you craft. On my server flask range from 20-30g each. If you want farm your own herbs and post flask and make pure profit 40-60g. However i found that Frost Lotus is rare which limits how many flask you can make. One method i had was farm the Icethorn and other herbs needed to craft a large amount of flask. Then check the AH price on frost lotus if its around 20g I buy it up then finish using my leftover herbs. The reason this works is because creating flask makes 2. Ill make back the frost lotus price from one and profit from the other.
The flask market is a booming economy on Tuesdays. This is when its time to sell flasks because raids are starting people need their supply. It is not uncommon to sell 30-40 potions on Tuesdays. Normally you can also get higher prices because the stock of flask drops dramatically. While the demand rises giving you ideal market conditions to sell your flask for larger gains.
I have not found a good way yet to not have to farm my own herbs to profit. Maybe if there was a farmer that would sell me Icethorn and Lichbloom and frost lotus under market price then farming could be cut out entirely. However I have not attempted this myself so i cant comment on it.
Alchemy is a good way to have steady income. If you transmute every day and do a little farming you can generate a good average income. Will this profession make you rich? Possibly it could but i find hat the time put into farming herbs does not yield gold as fast as I would like and that i can make more gold with other professions. I do transmute every day and have my gems cut because the chance to make 230-460g depending on luck is a decent income for the 4 seconds i spend purchasing the mats.

Netherweave Bags
Although they are selling i believe my netherweave stock pile is reaching critical mass. My bank tab is getting full and I'm going to have to unload some bags soon. The problem with this is if i don't moderate how many I post there is a risk of crashing the market. Ive also started just bolting the netherweave and storing it for a rainy day.
If i keep my buying up for the next few days i hope to see my competition fall out of the market from lack of cheap cloth and back up stores. Currently cheapest netherweave was around 15g a stack which means the bags will stay high. While their supplies will dwindle then i plan to step in to start selling. One reason i can sit on the mats to make bags and take a hit to the wallet constantly purchasing is because i also work other markets. This means that even if i just stockpile for a while i don't run the risk of going broke cause i have gold flowing in from other markets. BTW I almost hit 5k this weekend but spent a good portion on buying netherweave cloth and Saronite ore. I'm currently sitting at 4,300g not to bad for only 30 minutes of work a day.
